A 49-year-old man was shot dead in Southeast Portland Thursday at an apartment complex in the 8500 block of SE Bush Street. Neighbors reported they had heard gunshots in and around the area and called 9-1-1.

In an earlier story, we reported that nearby Marshall High School had gone into lock-in mode. That lock-in was later cancelled with the news of where the actual shooting had occurred.

Officers determined that a 49-year-old male had been shot and a 69-year-old male was also inside the residence. Medical personnel determined that the 49-year-old man was deceased and the 69-year-old man needed medical attention for unrelated health matters. He was transported to an area hospital.

Police detectives are at the scene. No no arrests have been made.

Detectives are in the early stages of their investigation and Southeast Bush will remain blocked off for a few hours as investigators process the crime scene.
