A bicyclist, Markus Eston Sullivan, 35, pulled a sawed-off shotgun on police officers after they attempted to stop him for traffic violations Thursday night.

Sullivan dropped the gun when told to do so by police and he was jailed. Charges include:

•Unlawful Use of a Weapon •Interfering with a Police Officer •Unlawful Possession of a Firearm •Possession of a Short Barreled Shotgun •Menacing •Criminal Trespass II •Possession of Less than one ounce of Marijuana

The incident began last night at around 9 p.m. in the Bethel neighborhood when Eugene police tried to stop a Sullivan for several traffic violations. Instead of stopping, the bicyclist took off with officers chasing him on foot. When police approached the Sullivan , he pulled a sawed-off shotgun from his backpack.
