Fire crews were dispatched at 03:57 this morning to a report of a large horse arena on fire at 10025 NE 184th Street in the Meadow Glade neighborhood southwest of Battle Ground. Initial reports stated the structure was heavily involved in fire with propane tanks inside the structure randomly exploding. The first unit arrived at 04:06 to find a 120' x 108' (approximately 13,000 square feet) horse barn/riding arena fully engulfed in flames. The property owners were able to remove the horses prior to arrival of the fire units.

Firefighters initially took a "defensive" position and worked from outside to contain the fire to the arena. The home was approximately 75' from the arena and was at risk of catching fire due to the radiant heat from the arena fire. Firefighters were able to protect the home and bring the barn/arena fire under control. The barn/arena was predominately destroyed by the fire.

There were no injuries during this fire. All of the animals were safely accounted for. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Clark County Fire Marshal's Office.

Clark County Fire & Rescue was assisted on this fire by three units from Fire District 3 and one unit from the Vancouver Fire Department.
