On November 4, 2020, at 9:51 a.m., East Precinct Officers responded to a single vehicle accident in the 9400 block of Northeast Halsey St. Prior to the officer's arrival, the driver walked away but came back when police arrived. While officers were investigating the accident, the driver started to become agitated and wanted to leave. When officers attempted to detain the driver, the driver punched the officer in the face, causing injury.

Officers were able to take the driver into custody. The driver was identified as 26 year-old Alexander Earl York of Portland. York was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center for Assaulting a Public Safety Officer. York also had an outstanding warrant for the same crime.

The East Precinct officer was transported to an area hospital for their injury and later released.
