The U.S. Forest Service is hiring over 1,000 temporary spring and summer jobs in Oregon and Washington, the federal agency announced this week.

Applications will be accepted from Oct. 30 to Nov. 9, with positions in fields including fire, recreation, timber, engineering, visitor services and archaeology.

The majority of jobs pay $12 to $19 per hour, require 40 hours per week and include health insurance.

The jobs include a variety of locations across the Northwest and typically last three to six months.

"We're looking for talented, diverse applicants to help us manage over 24 million acres of public land in the Pacific Northwest," said Glenn Casamassa, Pacific Northwest Regional Forester. "If you're interested in stewarding our national forests and serving local communities, I encourage you to apply."
