OREST GROVE, Oregon — 44-Year-Old James Marshal was hospitalized in critical condition after Forest Grove police officers tased him and he stopped breathing.

Forest Grove police say at about midnight Marshal was running around with no shirt. Police say they found Marshal inside a church, uncooperative, erratic, making threatening moves with an aluminum flag pole, and in the process of attempting to damage church property.

Police say they attempted to clam Marshal but after officers decided to arrest him, he assaulted one officer, police said.

Four police officers were involved in the "use of force" incident.

According to police, "immediately" after the use of force, officers then noticed Marshall "appeared to have stopped breathing." Police then began life-saving efforts using a defibrillator. Marshal was then taken to a hospital.
