Previous story Man Dies After Officer Involved Shooting in Longview Next story

On Friday, October 2nd, 2020 around 1:30pm Longview Street Crimes Detectives attempted to apprehend a 33 year old white male on a warrant for his arrest. The subject fled from officers. Officers attempted to capture the subject using less-lethal means, however that was unsuccessful. The male subject continued to flee and at some point during the foot pursuit at least one officer fired his weapon striking the suspect.

Police say the subject was armed with a firearm and it was recovered at the scene where the suspect was taken into custody. The subject was transported to St. John Medical Center where he died of his injuries.

No officers were injured in the event. The scene is contained and there is no further threat to the community.

The Lower Columbia Major Crimes Team will be investigating this incident. Investigators are processing the scene near 14th Ave and Cypress St, Longview. The scene will be closed to vehicular traffic at this time. Investigators are requesting anyone who witnessed this incident or have video of this incident to contact the Major Crimes Team via the Sheriff's Office.
