PORTLAND, Oregon - On July 23, 2020, at 1:20 a.m., Portland Police Bureau Officers responded to an assault call that occurred in Lownsdale Square in Downtown Portland. The adult male victim was led to Southwest 5th Avenue and Southwest Salmon Street by group protesters to get medical attention. PPB Officers and AMR EMTs responded to provide emergency services.

Officers attempted to meet the victim there to obtain a statement. Due to the hostility of the crowd, officers decided to leave the scene and meet the victim at a local hospital. The victim was transported by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim said he was attacked by another participant in the protest. The victim believes he was targeted because protesters believe he is working with police.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation. If anyone has any information in regard to the assault, police ask that you please call the Portland Police Bureau at (503) 823-3333 and reference case 20-229866.
