PORTLAND, Oregon - A gun is being analyzed after it was seized from a stolen car Friday night.

Officers with the Gun Violence Reduction Team (GVRT) were conducting focused patrol in the area of Southeast 82nd Avenue and Southeast Foster Road, which is in an area where there has been recent gun violence activity.

An officer looked up the license plate of a car, a silver Nissan Rogue, and it came back as stolen. Officers conducted a traffic stop and found 6 juveniles inside. During the investigation into the stolen car, officers located a gun inside the car (photo). No one has been charged with a crime related to the gun at this point, but the investigation is continuing into who had possession of it. Future charges are possible.

The driver, a 16-year-old male, was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. The car was returned to its owner.

The Gun Violence Reduction Team is continuing to investigate several incidents of gun violence citywide.
