PORTLAND, Oregon - On Friday, June 7, 2019, at 8:07 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the area of Northeast 33rd Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard to check the welfare of a female that was in the roadway attacking passing cars. Officers received information that the female was walking in the middle of the road with a large kitchen knife in her hand, which she eventually discarded.

An officer arrived on scene and located the suspect. The suspect failed to comply with commands and less lethal munitions were deployed, which were ineffective. The suspect attacked the officer and the officer deployed his Taser. At the same time, a security guard saw the officer under attack and the security guard deployed his pepper spray at the suspect. The suspect was ultimately taken into custody.

During the struggle, the officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The officer, a 2-year veteran, was treated at the scene by medical personnel.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. The suspect's identity and charges will be released once she is booked into the Multnomah County Jail.
