On December 29, 2015 at about 12:23AM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a passenger vehicle versus a semi-truck on Interstate 5 at milepost 150 (just north of Rice Hill).

Preliminary information indicates a 2016 Honda sport utility was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-5 when it collided with a semi-truck head-on. A 35 year old female in the Honda was declared deceased on-scene. The 39 year old driver of the Honda was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center Riverbend for treatment of serious injuries. The truck driver was not injured.

One northbound lane of I-5 was closed for over six hours. OSP was assisted by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation. Alcohol is being considered a contributing factor to the crash. This is a preliminary released and more information will be released once next of kin has been notified.
