  Cornelius man arrested on suspicion of stabbing family member to death   One victim dead, the other in critical condition

WILSONVILLE, Oregon - On Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 1:11 p.m., Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to an assault with a weapon call in the 2800 block of S Alpine Street in the city of Cornelius. A person called 911 to report that 33-year-old Artemio Guzman-Olvera had been stabbed by a family member.

When deputies arrived, they found Mr Guzman-Olvera with life-threatening injuries. Deputies immediately began life-saving efforts until medical personnel arrived. Life Flight transported Mr Guzman-Olvera to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Edi Villalobos. Mr Villalobos fled from the scene in a vehicle.

At 3:33 p.m., Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies contracted to the city of Wilsonville responded to an assault with a weapon call at the Carriage Estates apartment complex located at 10305 SW Wilsonville Road. A person called 911 to report a 26-year-old man had been stabbed by Mr Villalobos, who fled the scene in a vehicle. When deputies arrived, they immediately began life-saving efforts until medical personnel arrived on the scene. Life Flight took the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police have not identified the victim.

At 4:07 p.m., a Tualatin Police Officer located the suspect vehicle driven by Mr Villalobos on Pacific Highway and SW 124th Avenue. Additional officers converged on the location, and a pursuit ensued. Mr Villalobos stopped the vehicle on SW 88th Avenue and SW Stratford Loop and ran from the vehicle on foot.

Mr Villalobos was quickly apprehended with the assistance of Tigard, Tualatin, King City, Sherwood and Hillsboro Police officers. Mr Villalobos was taken into jail for murder, with additional charges pending.

The investigation is ongoing by the Washington County Major Crimes Team and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, and Clackamas County District Attorney's Office; more information will be released as it becomes available.
