PORTLAND, Oregon - At 10:19 am, Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R) was dispatched to a residential fire near 4100 N Lombard St. Fire crews were able to get this basement fire under control by 10:41 am. No one was home when crews arrived at the house and no injuries were reported. The cause of this fire has been determined to be accidental and human caused.

At 12:58 pm, PF&R was dispatched to a residential fire near NE 7th and NE Mason St. Fire crews were unable to enter the house initially due to the amount of fire coming from the door and windows. After spraying water from the outside of the home on the fire, cooling the fire conditions, fire crews were able to get inside to fight the fire inside the home. The fire was under control at 1:24 pm. No one was inside the house when fire crews arrive at the home and no injuries were reported. The cause of this fire was undetermined in nature and human caused.

At 1:12 pm, PF&R was dispatched to a residential fire near N Skidmore and N Borthwick Ave. Fire crews immediately began fighting the fire that was on all floors of the home and in the attic. This fire was difficult to put out since it was throughout the structure and command called for an additional engine company to assist. A rehab unit was also called to provide extra air for the firefighters. The fire was under control at 2:17 pm. No one was home at the time of this fire and no injuries were reported. The cause of this fire was determined to be accidental and human caused.

Portland Fire & Rescue recommends that extension cords are used only temporarily. We also recommend that heaters are kept at least 3 feet away from combustibles and are plugged directly into a wall outlet. Please ensure you have a working smoke detector on every floor of your home and in every sleeping room.
