PORT ROYAL, S.C. — A naked man stole a fire truck at a South Carolina apartment complex and sped away, killing a pedestrian who was walking on a sidewalk, authorities said Saturday. Stampede! Comedian Bill Cosby is bringing attention to the story of a small group of Newfoundlanders whose actions taught a black American decades ago that racism didn't exist everywhere.
Cosby recently brought Lanier Phillips onstage to tell his story, after he heard about the experience Phillips had in Newfoundland nearly 70 years ago. It was during the Second World War, in 1942; Phillips was a 19-year-old African-American deckhand on the USS Truxtun when it and another ship, the USS Pollux, ran aground near St. Lawrence, on the province's south coast. When South Grafton's Bev Metcalf tennis was interrupted by a burst of croaking near her back door, she noticed a large lump in the glow from the light inside and thought "cane toad".
But her fears were allayed when she flicked on a torch and lit up this passionate scene. "I've emailed this picture to all my friends and told them to have a look at this threesome," Bev said. Sheep are considerably smarter than we have previously given them credit for, researchers from Cambridge University have claimed.
Tests found sheep, which have historically been perceived as being dim-witted, are actually as smart as animals such as monkeys. Neuroscientist Professor Jenny Morton made the baa-rmy discovery after conducing a series of tests to test their logic and memory. These included giving sheep different coloured buckets with one colour containing food and seeing how many times they had to be presented with the buckets before knowing which contained food. STOCKHOLM — A Swedish man was being treated in hospital Sunday after being dug out alive from his snow-buried car in which he had survived for two months with no food, according to police and local media.
The 45-year-old from southern Sweden was found on Friday, emaciated and too weak to utter more than a few words. The BBC reported the temperature in the area had recently dropped to -22F (-30C). He was found not far from the city of Umea in the north of Sweden by snowmobilers who thought they had come across a car wreck until they dug their way to a window and saw movement inside. The winning ticket was part of the state’s Monopoly Scratch Off game. Chaar purchased the ticket at a local Food Mart in Clearwater Beach that she has been frequenting recently and where she has become a recognized and regular customer. Maureen Darvell, 83, had set off from her home in Ashford, Kent, at 9am on September 8 last year on her way to Bristol for a relative's wedding.
The 175-mile trip should have taken her around three hours, but the pensioner got confused on the M25 and ended up heading towards Bournemouth on the south coast. After reading Karen Higgins novel, A Child of God I have recommended the book to my friends and family. Nathan Lawrence spent six anguishing days searching for his dog after it escaped from his wrecked SUV during a snowstorm last month.
Atticus, a 60-pound male catahoula, bolted from his kennel inside the vehicle and jumped out through a broken window on the shoulder of Interstate 90 southwest of Spokane. Lawrence said he had to climb out the passenger door window after his Ford Explorer flipped onto its left side and struck a barrier between the Salnave Road and Tyler exits on Jan. 18.
