PORTLAND, Oregon - On Monday, December 25, 2017 at 2:49 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report that a pedestrian was robbed in the 10300 block of Southeast Washington Street.

As officers responded to the location, the victim of the robbery provided the emergency call-taker a detailed description of the suspect and the suspect's last known location. The victim reported that the suspect stated he possessed a weapon, but the victim never saw a weapon.

When officers arrived in the area, they learned the suspect stole a blue Dodge Durango shortly after the attempted robbery. Responding officers located the stolen Durango being driven in the 10000 block of Southeast Washington Street and attempted to stop the driver of the vehicle. The driver did not stop for officers and fled the scene in the Durango. Officers deployed pursuit intervention techniques as the driver drove through Southeast Portland neighborhoods. Officers searched the surrounding area and located the vehicle and driver in the 9600 block of Southeast Division Street.

The suspect was taken into custody and detectives with the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Robbery Detail are responding to assist with this investigation.

As is standard procedure, the suspect and his related charges will be identified after he is lodged at the Multnomah County Jail.

The stolen blue Dodge Durango was returned to the registered owner.
